There are hundreds of pages of lessons on this site. Where should you start?

  • I've already registered for a music theory exam:
    > Start at lesson 1 of the theory grade you are taking and work through the lessons in order.
    > If you find a lesson too difficult, browse the same topic at the grade before.
  • I haven't registered for a theory exam yet, but I'm doing grades on an instrument:
    > Start at lesson 1 of the same grade you are currently at on your instrument.
    > If you find it too easy/too hard, switch up or down a grade.
  • I'm not going to do a theory exam, I just want to learn about music theory:
    > Start at the test for grade 1.
    > If you discover lots of gaps in your knowledge, start the grade 1 course at lesson 1. If not, try the grade 2 test, and so on.
  • I failed my Grade 5 Theory and need to retake it:
    > Use the results breakdown provided by the ABRSM and study the topics you need.
  • I'm not sure if I am ready to take Grade 5:
    > Do our grade 5 diagnostic test to discover where your strengths and weaknesses lie.
