Conservatoire or University?
The main difference between studying music at university and conservatoire is that conservatoire courses are much more practical, and university courses tend to be more academic. If you want to pursue a career as a solo or orchestral musician, then conservatoire is a good choice. You will normally need to be at least at Grade 8 with Distinction level in your chosen instrument when you apply.
Applying to conservatoire is a different process from applying to university, so you can apply to both kinds of institution if you like. To apply to conservatoire, you need to go to the Conservatoires Admissions Service web site.
