Lesson 12: Composing a Melody for an Instrument - Exercises
Mymusictheory.com has several options for practising instrumental composition:
1) Online Teacher Support
Download some exercises and opt for the online teacher support. You'll receive 20 composition questions, which you can then email back to us and we'll give you detailed feedback and a mark out of 15. You'll need to be able to scan or photograph your answers, so that you can attach them by email.
You can see an example of the kind of feedback you'd get at http://www.mymusictheory.com/downloads/samples/eg-cami-notes.pdf
2) Home Practice
Download some exercises and practise at home, without our online teacher's involvement. You might like this option if you can ask your music teacher to check your work for you. Each download contains 20 questions, with blank staves for your answers.
3) Forum Support
You can do questions from any other source (music theory workbooks, your own inventions, things given to you by your teacher...), and post them in the mymusictheory.com forum, for some unbiased feedback. This option is free - you simply need to register as a forum member.
